OUR EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
VCLA's educational philosophy is centered on four main pillars.
Small Student to Teacher Ratio
Students don't get overlooked, experience less class disruptions, encourage class participation, and build rapport with teachers.
Inclusive Learning Environment
Inclusiveness builds student's self-esteem, develops independence, demonstrates appreciation for diversity, creates a culture of collaboration and teamwork, and teaches essential life and leadership skills.
Comprehensive Approach
With the input of parents and staff, students set goals for every aspect of their lives; spiritually, emotionally, physically, socially, and academically.
Academic Customization
Academic instruction is delivered in a manner that highlights and advances the individual skills and need of each student.
Bible, Language, Math, Science, and Social Studies are the core subjects offered. Bible Courses are taught using the Infallible Word of God. The remaining core subjects, electives, and testing assessments are aligned with the latest state standards. Electives are provided each year to ensure a diverse experience across various interests.
Elementary School Elementary participates in reading fluency activities to promote literacy skills. This curriculum focuses on developing strong foundational skills to ensure future success while placing them in a socially rich environment. Music, art, real-world applications, and hands-on activities are integrated across core subjects to appeal to all learning styles.
High School With a curriculum that emphasizes independence, accountability, and considering post-secondary opportunites, High School students at VCLA are placed on an academic track that gets them equipped for life after graduation. Similar to Middle School students, grade level expectations promote targeted skills such as accountability, time management, discipline, integrity, technology, communication, collaboration, leadership, work readiness, service, and decision-making. College and career planning continues throughout the high school career. VCLA has Dual Enrollment agreements with three colleges that allow qualifying students to participate in collegiate-level courses while still attending high school.
Middle School Focusing on developing independence, 6th-8th grade students are aided with increasing accountability and working towards being an effective student in and out of the classroom. Middle-grade level expectations begin to promote targeted post-graduation skills such as accountability, time management, discipline, integrity, technology, communication, leadership, decision-making, service, and collaboration. These are strongly integrated in the learning model. College and career planning begins here.
Adult Education With material designed to help them progress academically, our adult education programs help students achieve academic success and empower them to chase their dreams.
